Worship at Valley VCF
|
Worship is one of our main priorities at Valley Vineyard. This is much more than 30 minutes of singing on a Sunday morning but involves our whole lives offered up as a sacrifice of worship to the Lord. Rom 12:1 So here's what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life--your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life--and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. |
 |
Alan and Carroll Foster are the overseers of the musical side of worship at Valley and throughout Africa (see Vineyard Worship Resource Team). They are responsible for the pastoral care of those involved in worship as well as the practical management of the teams.
We see worship as an integral part of our Sunday services as we focus our attention on God and give a communal voice to our praise, thanksgiving and desire for God’s presence. |
Over the years our musical styles have changed to maintain a relevant and contemporary sound. Our values, however, do not change. Intimacy, accessibility and authenticity are the hallmark of Vineyard worship.
|
Intimacy
this demands that our worship be self-disclosing and vulnerable. Our songs are often ‘to’ God rather than just about Him.
We enjoy our times of celebration and exaltation, but always make time for coming close and touching our Father’s heart with our intimate worship. |
 |
 |
Accessibility
we want to provide access to the manifest presence of God through our times of corporate worship. This requires restraint on the part of the leader and a willingness to participate from the congregation. The worship leader and team are more concerned with the needs of the congregation than their own desire to express their musical creativity. It is a position of humility and servanthood which hopefully allows the greatest number of people to enter in. |
Authenticity
John 4:24
states the Father is looking for worshipers who will worship Him in Spirit and truth. Our lives and our worship need to be in line with one another. This value encourages us to bridge the gap between our worship and the actions of our daily lives. The songs we sing are an honest expression of our hopes, faith and even our needs and shortcomings. |

Vineyard Worship Resource Team/ Vineyard Music The Vineyard Worship Resource Team vision is to encourage and facilitate intimate, authentic and accessible worship in Vineyard churches in Africa. In our link with Vineyard Music we seek to impact the broader church through training, conferencing and the distribution of new worship songs. |
Alan and Carroll are dedicated full-time to these purposes. They are currently over-seeing worship at Valley Vineyard while still spending much of their time and energy assisting the South African Vineyard worship leaders, planning training for Vineyard Worship leaders throughout Africa and developing new resources for local churches
