My assumption is that the story of any one of us is in some measure the story of all of us.

Frederick Buechner
There is a common ground of understanding, forgiveness, acceptance and healing when we are authentic with each other. When we tell our real-life stories of what we have encourntered on the journey of life, we break down barriers and create safe places to risk revealing the truth.

"When I lay my Isaac down"
Carol Kent

“I used to wonder how any good could come out of reviewing the details and reliving the pain of an unwanted experience.  But I’ve discovered that tremendous power is released when we dare to speak up and communicate our personal stories with honesty and vulnerability.  By doing so we remind others that life is an unpredictable journey for all of us.  Bad things happen, and the Enemy tries to destroy our spirit and our sense of purpose. If we can remember that we are engaged in a spiritual battle – not with weapons and hatred, but with hope, faith and joy, we affirm our ultimate security in God and  our love for Him in the midst of heartache.  The grace-filled reward is that we find ourselves enveloped in steadfast, intimate, extravagant love that continues to move us into the heart of the greatest adventure of all.”

EVENING SERVICE TESTIMONIES

The evening service at Valley is church in it's simplest form. A guitar and a group of eager, committed people worshipping God. One on one ministry time, interactive bible study and freedom to both explore the gifts God has given us by stepping out boldly and using them to bless others and allowing others to speak into our lives.

Below are some of the testimonies.

We look forward to seeing you at the next service.

Awhile ago I called a family gathering saying 'This far and no further. There is a line and now it has been crossed'. We then had a week of fasting and prayer over a number of serious family issues that had been plaguing us for some time. We were not asking for 'heaven on earth' or 'an easy life' - we just wanted normality.

At the end of the fast I attended the evening service. Ray (who does not even know me or my family) prayed for me and said. "I see a line, as if drawn in the sand. I don't know what it means but I would like to assure you that God has heard your petitions"

Things have been normal since then. Thank you God for answering prayer and honouring our efforts.

During the Sunday evening service on the 27/09 I asked if people could pray for me. I was looking for direction for my business re. I need more space and the factory next door which I was supposed to take over. I had been waiting for 2 months for the occupant to move out, but at the last minute he decided he wasn't going to move anymore. I needed more space and wasn't sure if I should stay put or look elsewhere for larger premises.

Hence the need for Gods direction. During the ministry, Melissa said that she felt that the Lord was saying that he was going to work at the foundation of the business and also she saw sea and rocks. The first couple of days I was thinking that maybe God wanted me to change my line of business and try making something else. Currently I have a partner who does the retail side of the business. On Wednesday the 30/09 I went through for a meeting and to discuss orders for the new month. During the meeting I sensed that something wasn't right and asked him if he still wanted to be partners and his answer was no. I then knew that this is what was meant by " working at the foundations of my business". My partner is not saved and I believe that God doesn't want me in a partnership. As of yet I am not sure what the sea and rocks mean, maybe a holiday at the sea( Cape Town?) I know that if Melissa hadn't told me this I would have been in a bad place about the business.

Only by God's grace and mercy.

I thought I'd just check out what was happening in the evening service and have never left. It's so personal, so challenging and so basic in getting back to the fundamentals of our faith that it draws me back again and again.

My second visit to the evening service I was in so much inner turmoil over a whole heap of business and personal issues in my life. I sat quietly and didn't get involved in the interaction or ministry time. Anthony walked over to me and said he had a message for me. He said that God saw where I was at, He saw me in a small boat in stormy seas. Anthony then reached out his hand to me and said - God says here, take His hand because everything is going to be ok.

It was a simple message that blew me away. I had never spoken to Anthony in my life before so the message was undoubtedly directly from God. I felt the seas flatten in my life and although the problems remain, God's peace arrived in my heart. When it's all a bit overwhelming I just reach out to His hand again and know that He's promised, "everything will be ok".

GENERAL TESTIMONIES

A heart sacrifice is a positive choice, not a defensive reaction. God gives us the incredible opportunity to join Him on a journey of discovery - where we find meaning in chaos, purpose in pain, the cup of joy in the cup of sorrow, hope in the midst of grief and purpose and empowerment in telling our stories.

What's in a story?
The opportunity to give hope to somebody else.

We would love this to be filled with your testimonies, so please write to us.

CARROLL

Want to know why I LOVE worship? The songs we sing give me a way of expressing my gratitude, dependence and love for God in a more powerful and honest way than just words. I get lost in God’s presence and I can take my friends along.

Debbie Jones DEBBIE JONES - Why I'm involved in Prisons

Working in prison became possible when I got to know the faces, and then hearts and spirits of so many of these people and they stopped being an anonymous group who I could just vent anger and bitterness at.

A testimony to celebrate my God, who continues to call me homeward, on the occasion of my ordination as a Vineyard Pastor

CATHY

"People have asked me what the biggest change is since my Christian walk. I would say the fact that I have nothing to hide anymore – I feel clean! “Washed in the blood of Christ” – how does anyone live without Him..."
CAROLE

"My testimony is one filled with God’s presence at each turning. I was never aware of Him at the time but looking back I can see His hand in each major decision in my life... "

STEVE

"I have a spiritual garage full of old spiritual stuff; 38 years of accumulated church and Christian baggage. God said to me recently. “Steve, you need a spiritual bonfire to get rid of all this old stuff. The way we worked together in the past is not the way we work together today.”

URSULAH

I believe God has placed a gift in me, to help other women that have gone through similar experiences I have.  And it blesses me every time I help them.  My heart is for broken women and I am continually amazed at who God connects me with so He can work His healing in them.
