At Sparrow Schools we provide affordable quality education, vocational skills training and extensive learner support to children and youth who cannot cope in mainstream schools due to intellectual difficulties caused by disrupted learning, trauma etc. 

Currently our learners pay R8 000 at our Foundation School and R8 500 at Sparrow Combined per annum for school fees.  This includes all their stationery, workbooks, and consumables for the practical training – as well as counselling, remedial therapy and other interventions.  The actual cost per learner per year for our comprehensive services is more than R20 000.  As such we are annually under a lot of pressure to fundraise the difference.

Above and beyond our services we know that some of our learners do not have basic food items or hygiene products.  Where possible we have been providing these, however this requires additional funds.  With the increased cost of living this is becoming more and more urgent.

We have 12 boys and 6 girls who require a daily meal pack and a monthly hygiene pack.  This number is bound to increase. 
Most of these learners are from child-headed households.

The meal pack consists of porridge in the morning and a sandwich, fruit and juice for lunch.  This needs to be supplemented with a monthly food parcel.

The hygiene products they require:

	1kg washing powder (handwash),
	2 body soaps
	1 toothbrush and toothpaste, (every 2nd month)
	1 shampoo
	1 roll-on deodorant
	For the 6 girls - 1 packet sanitary pads
